Selicha means Forgiveness but it can also be used instead of “Forgive Me” or “Pardon”
In the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur it is customary to pray for God’s forgiveness. However, no amount pf prayers can absolve a person’s sins against his fellow-men. The only way is to get the forgiveness of the person you sinned against. Therefore is ts customary before and on Yom Kippur to reconcile with family, friends, and all people we have had dealings with during the past year, by asking them selicha for any past wrongdoings we might have committed against them.
